Acupressure

Control the Flow of "Chi" - the Natural Healing Method.

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is a massage therapy done without the needles. It has been the application of manual pressure, usually with fingertips, to a specific part of the body.

Acupressure is known as a unique form of massage that relies mainly on the use of thumbs, fingers, and palms, which helps to exert pressure on the body at different points. In practice, therapists can use different rhythms, stresses, and techniques. Massage with shiatsu is a type of acupressure treatment.

Practitioners control the flow of chi (qi) energy in the patient by exerting pressure at various body points. Acupressure points — or acupoints — are places on the body where chi can become congested or blocked entirely. Acupressure massage is a natural healing method for coping with blockages, which can cause additional health problems.

How does it work?

There is many theories about how acupressure should work. Some theorize that the body's pressure may stimulate the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals, called endorphins. Another hypothesis is that the pressure could affect the autonomic nervous system in some way.

Main points:

There are two main points where a specialist uses acupressure massage therapy. They either apply acupressure at the local point or trigger points. Let's talk about some fundamental differences in these two points.

Local points can be found in exact areas on the body where the patient experiences pain or discomfort.

In second-hand Trigger points are those related to the points of the pain or discomfort encountered in the body.
These two types of points from which the physician approaches a patient's issue from several angles, an advantage of the profession.

A network of meridians has the points used in acupressure massage, which are essentially the highways on which the chi flows in the body. The pressure at these points is often required to remove blockages and help ensure a safe and also help in a balanced and harmonious flow of energy through the meridians.

Different styles of acupressure

Acupressure massage therapy styles rely on varying rhythms, pressure, and techniques. Shiatsu, a type of Japanese massage therapy based on ancient Chinese concepts, is the most commonly recognized massage acupressure training style. This technique can be very intense in practice, literally translated as "finger pressure," because the therapist applies intense pressure applied to acupressure points.
Shiatsu massage therapy programs usually provide intensive training in traditional Asian bodywork at schools such as the Acupuncture and Massage Colleges. Treatment can also include stretching, massage therapy, special breathing, and meditation techniques.

The goal of acupressure

The goal of acupressure or other forms of massages and exercises is to restore health and balance to the body. It helps the body's energy channels and controls and balances opposing forces of yin (negative energy) and yang (positive energy). Many theories claim acupressure treats not only the energy fields and body but also the mind, feelings, and spirit. Some even believe that a therapist can transmit vital energy (external qi) to another person.
